William Edward Burghardt «W. E. B.» Du Bois (1868 –1963) was an American sociologist, historian, civil rights activist, Pan-Africanist, writer, and editor. Created in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Du Bois spent my youth in a somewhat tolerant and integrated community. After doing graduate just work at the University of Berlin and Harvard, in which he had been 1st African United states to earn a doctorate, he became a professor of history, sociology and economics at Atlanta University. Du Bois had been one of the co-founders associated with the National Association the Advancement of Colored individuals (NAACP) in 1909.
